Super visa for parents and grandparents

Super visa is a temporary residence and multiple entry visa issued to parents or grandparents to come to Canada. Super Visa is one of the options available to Canadian Citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their parents and grandparents. Super Visa is issued for a maximum period of 10 years, and allows the parents or grandparents to stay in Canada in a single stretch of 5 years, which can be extended to a further of 2 years. This unique feature makes it a wonderful option for those seeking to bring their parents or grandparents to Canada.

Eligibility

Following requirements must be met and documents be submitted with the application to apply for Super visa:

  • The applicants should be either parents or grandparents of a Canadian citizen or permanent residents of Canada.
  • An invitation letter signed by the children or grandchildren who are sponsoring the applicants to visit Canada. The letter must provide assurance that they will support the applicants financially during their stay in Canada. The letter should also list all the members of the sponsor’s household.
  • Financial Proof: Submission of documents like T4 or Notice of Assessment (NOA) to demonstrate that the sponsor’s household meets the minimum necessary income.
  • Documents proving sponsor’s Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Residency.
  • Medical insurance from a Canadian Insurance company valid for 1 year from the date of entry in Canada, with a minimum of $100,000 of emergency medical coverage.
  • A valid travel document
  • Valid immigration medical exam.
  • The applicant should apply for Super Visa from outside Canada, and must not be inadmissible to Canada.
